Nero’s Notes Desk Subscription – July 2018

IMG 4966

Last week I received the latest “Desk” subscription from Nero’s Notes (you can read more about the subscription options here). The idea behind the desk subscription is that you will get a single A5 notebook each quarter (along with some extra goodies).

This month the box contained a Dingbats A5 Notebook from the Wildlife Collection and a Swiss Wood Pencil.

Dingbats* Notebook

Dingbats Notebooks are green: “We make sure that there are no nasty stuff in our notebooks – even the water used to produce the paper is returned to the rivers cleaner than when it was taken out. We use degradable and recyclable materials and only FSC certified paper. The FSC labels guarantee that the trees that are harvested are replaced or allowed to regenerate naturally.”

Dingbats Notebooks are vegan: “All materials used are non-animal based and hence 100% vegan as certified by the EU V-Label (www.v-label.eu). No animals were sacrificed in the making of our notebooks. We’re actually the first and only notebook brand to hold this certification.”

You can read more about it on their website.

Swiss Wood 348 Pencil – Caran d’Ache

IMG 4965

This is an unusual pencil from Caran d’Ache. It is made from Swiss Beech wood from Swiss Jura forest, rather than the traditional cedar wood (and smells amazing!). The 348 pencil is both thicker and heavier than normal pencils (HB lead).

Beechwood isn’t normally this dark, so it has been stained/coated with varnish which makes the white embossing on the shaft of the pencil more striking. Another design touch is that the end of the pencil has been dipped in red paint and finished with a Swiss flag.

Available from Nero’s Notes | £3.30
