Reusing Space

When using a notebook do you use and reuse the space until you can fit no more in? With my Monthly (everyday carry) Notebooks, I often find that I use and reuse the space. You can do this with any notebook and there are simple tricks that you can use but dot-grid notebook, in particular, are great for this.

I often find that I will use a notebook once, and then go back and reuse the pages where there is remaining space. There are different ways that I do this:

  • Use Different Pens – use different pens / different coloured pens to show different content. For example, the first time I use the notebook I might use black and then the second time I might use blue or green.
  • Write in a different direction or in a box – dot grid notebooks, in particular, are great for writing different content in the same notebooks as you can be entirely flexible with your layout (and direction).
  • Use a highlighter to mark up your notebook. While I tend to use this for actionable points and reviewing my Monthly Notebooks this can also be used to reuse space in your notebooks.
  • Strikeout content once you have finished with it. If you use Monthly Notebooks for disposable content such as to do lists and drafts you can also strike out and tick off content once you have finished with it and leave the rest of the space for fresh content.
