Obvious State is a creative studio, their artwork and goods are inspired by beautiful language that has stood the test of time, poetry that stretches the imagination, and philosophy that prompts us to think deeply. Obvious State takes snippets of text from literature, philosophy, and poetry as inspiration for a visual response and illustration.
This month I am using the “Beauty Will Save the World” notebook.
Dostoevsky, Solzenhitsyn and the current state of the world collectively inspired this illustration. OS wanted to capture a sense of individuals connecting to a whole that is greater than the parts. Points of light suggest a globe at sunrise, then connect through sunrise into the shape of a magnolia flower. Read more about the inspiration here.
